JONATHAN ROUMIE is a professional Actor & Voice-Over Artist who has spent years working in virtually every area of film, tv, theater and voice, both in the mainstream media as well as the Faith-based genre.

In this increasingly popular market, Jonathan has proven himself as an authentic go-to for Producers, Directors and Writers, specifically when portraying the extremely complex and compelling character of Jesus Christ.  He is currently playing Jesus in the first multi-season series about the life of Christ called "The Chosen", which is the highest crowdfunded media project of all time.  Previously, he donned the sandals of the character of Christ in several other films (including "The Two Thieves", a multiple award-winner); for an International, touring multi-media project about the life of St. Faustina and for live performances.  He is slated for additional live productions in the Spring of 2020.  Go to www.TheLastDaysofJesusPassionPlay.com for more info.

Born, raised and trained in New York City, now living in Los Angeles, Jonathan's method-based approach, in addition to his facility for accents and language, his authentic Middle-Eastern heritage and his spiritual background make him the ideal choice for playing the role of Christ, as well as other biblical-oriented roles. 

 

In a sea of genre performances that range from preachy and inauthentic, to overly  saccharine or morose, to simply inconsistent in quality and/or historical accuracy, Jonathan's commitment to the nuances of the genre while maintaining emotional versatility make for an extremely rare combination found in American actors in particular.  His experience in network & cable television and film, both in front of and behind the camera allows him the grace and ease to work with colleagues from virtually any area of the industry, plus his dual, European citizenship and multi-cultural roots provide him the ability to work locally in a number of countries.

 

In addition to working on "The Chosen", Jonathan is voicing several video games.  When not acting, is busy making music and playing with various bands.  He recently wrote a single that was released in Europe for an original album he co-produced.

 

In Fall 2016, Jonathan was honored with an ecclesiastical knighthood through the International Order of OSMTH, Switzerland and in 2017 elevated to Chaplain.  He currently active in several ministries in his home parish, resides on the Board of Directors for Catholics in Media Associates and heads up a Faith-based Entertainment ministry out of Beverly Hills, CA, serving the Greater Los Angeles area.
